Class Action Lawsuits

A class action lawsuit is the joining together of several different plaintiffs with similar circumstances and legal issues to sue the same defendant, which is typically a large corporation that is responsible for putting a defective product on the market.

Many times class action lawsuits can be more efficient and effective than an individual lawsuit. Consumer class actions are an effective way to get the attention of a large corporation that is responsible for putting defective consumer products on the market. An individual plaintiff may not be able to effect change in the consumer products market, but a unified group of plaintiffs may have this ability. Class actions have prompted manufacturers to produce safer vehicles and safer consumer products as well as eliminate harmful products, such as asbestos and defective contraceptive devices.
